Educator Skills & Habits Rubric

At Summit Public Schools, we use this rubric to describe the skills and habits that matter for every job in our organization. It's a tool for self-assessment, coaching, growth, and development. The rubric covers 38 dimensions across seven domains: four domains of Educator Skills and three domains of Habits of Success, each described along the same five-level continuum.

How to use this rubric

  1. Choose your path with the tabs above: explore The Rubric on your own, review your Role Practices, or use PLP Prep to get ready for your Personalized Learning Plan meeting, step by step.
  2. Inside a domain, open any dimension to read what practice looks like at each of the five levels.
  3. Click I'm here on the level that best matches your practice today. Be honest — this is for your growth, and there's no "bad" level.
  4. Click Goal on the level you want to grow toward this year, and capture notes and evidence as you go. Two or three focus dimensions is plenty.
  5. Open My Growth Plan to see everything in one place — a great starting point for preparing for your Personalized Learning Plan meeting with your manager and for ongoing check-ins throughout the year.
